Since opening an office in Lao PDR last winter we have been very busy with our conservation efforts in the Mekong River basin. We recently hired a local, full-time biologist to head-up the Lao office and last week a few of us made a visit to the area to meet our new team member, Sinsamout, for the first time. With a master’s degree in Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management and experience as a team leader for several fisheries and agricultural projects, he has done a great job getting the new office up and running. In addition to being a native Lao speaker, Sinsamout also speaks English and Thai, and he is quickly becoming an essential point of contact for our work in the region.
