We increasingly receive phone calls from people who have seen FISHBIO’s fabrication work on our website and Facebook page, or have heard about us through word-of-mouth. Recently, some folks from Monterey Peninsula Water Management District (MPWMD) contacted us because they were looking to securely place a DIDSON sonar unit in the Carmel River to record steelhead migrations. There are few DIDSON mounting systems commercially available, so our FABLAB experts designed and fabricated this system. The custom made DIDSON mount, vaguely resembling a lunar lander, will securely anchor to the river substrate and withstand the forces of winter run-off. The system is adjustable, which allows fine-tuning of the transducer height and angle. Should we be expecting a call from NASA?
