stacking survey
Fall is here and that means weirs have been installed on the Stanislaus and Tuolumne rivers to monitor the ongoing fall-run Chinook salmon migration. As part of our regular weir checks, we conduct stacking surveys, meaning we scan the area upstream and downstream of the weir to make sure that fish aren’t hanging out, or “stacking,” around the structure, and are instead continuing on their way to spawn. Stay tuned to learn about this season’s salmon counts!
