There are many advantages to being a fish biologist. Aside from the obvious high pay and accompanying jet-set lifestyle, there’s also the occasional fishing trip that qualifies as real research. Naturally, to a fish biologist all fishing qualifies as research, since every fishing trip brings with it an increased understanding of fish, their habitat, and especially their finicky feeding behavior. But, in cases such as this one where rainbow trout are being collected and surgically implanted with acoustic transmitters, angling is the safest and most effective way to catch fish. Honest. Really.
