Our Oakdale office was happy to participate in a recent job shadow program sponsored by the Oakdale Chamber of Commerce. We hosted a senior at Oakdale High School who will be attending UCLA in the fall with a major in Biology. We spent the morning at the Oakdale rotary screw trap, where she got to practice measuring baby salmon, then showed her the normal daily routine of our staff back at the office. We then met for lunch with 12 other students who had participated in job shadows throughout town, and each student gave a short presentation about their experiences to a group from the Chamber of Commerce. We hope we’ve helped share some insight into the rewarding fisheries career track!
