Film Friday: Navigating Hyacinth in Cambodia

While traveling with our partners for the Wonders of the Mekong project in Cambodia, our staff hit a familiar snag – invasive water hyacinth. Today’s Film Friday shows how the proliferating plant momentarily stalled our tour of Tonle Sap Lake with Cambodian bird guides – but after some skillful maneuvering, we finally broke free. We learned that many local people make use of the hyacinth by drying the stems and fashioning them into purses, bowls and other decorative items. Read more of our stories about water hyacinth here!
