Bullfrog dark morph
They might not normally be nominated for wildlife style awards, but American bullfrogs (Lithobates catesbeianus) can be found in a variety of colors. Their backsides range from green to olive and brown to black, while their bellies boast lighter shades of white or yellow. We recently came across this particularly dark color morph – which made for a striking contrast when we flipped it over! Bullfrogs are notorious predators and are not native to California – earning them a place among the “Delta’s Most Wanted.” This fat froggy appears to be doing quite well – maybe in part due to its unique camouflage outfit.
