Today, March 3, is World Wildlife Day, designated by the United Nations to mark the signing of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), and to raise awareness about wild animals and plants around the world. We wanted to share one of our favorite wildlife photos today, a shot of an osprey (Pandion haliaetus) taking flight. Osprey are also known as fish hawks or fish eagles because of their ability to hunt fish – check out another of our photos showing an osprey with its catch!
