Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) and California Sea Grant at UC San Diego seek a motivated individual to coordinate the California Cooperative Oceanic Fisheries Investigations (CalCOFI) program under the guidance of the CalCOFI Director and CalCOFI Committee, in partnership with California Sea Grant. CalCOFI is among the world’s preeminent time series programs and has been sampling physical and biological components of the eastern Pacific ocean continuously since 1949 CalCOFI remains a unique partnership among the NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and SIO.
Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent in ocean sciences or related field. Strengths in biological oceanography, fisheries science and advanced data analyses are preferred. Strengths in organization and personal communication are essential. In consultation with the CalCOFI Director, Committee and California Sea Grant, the successful candidate will work to organize and strengthen CalCOFI’s state, federal and academic connections, and will facilitate new programmatic elements that strengthen the connections between data and constituents. As part of this effort, the successful candidate will organize annual scientific meetings, and twice-annual meetings of the CalCOFI Scientific Advisory Board.
