Description: Under direction, manage The Center for Aquatic Biology and Aquaculture (CABA), housed within the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CA&ES). CABA was established to support University of California, Davis researchers in addressing problems associated with California’s cultured and wild aquatic biological resources. CABA and its aquatic research facilities provide the basic infrastructure to allow departments within the CA&ES, as well as campus-wide, to conduct multidisciplinary and interdepartmental research and associated programs. These activities provide the scientific base to sustain California’s natural populations of aquatic species, support the technological framework of the state’s marine and freshwater aquaculture industries and create sustainable aquaculture production. Maintain optimal supply/allocation of primary inputs (electrical power, water, space) at the CABA animal research facilities. Provide research and animal maintenance assistance for individual investigators at aquatic animal facilities. The CABA Facility Manager will ensure that CABA meets regulatory requirements including water quality (influent and effluent), animal welfare and human health and safety.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience operating an aquatic biology laboratory facility including managing and maintenance of the facility infrastructure.
- Bachelor’s degree in aquaculture or related field or an equivalent combination of abilities, education, and experience.
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills and experience, including a track record for leading, managing and developing a team; hiring, training, coaching and evaluating performance, as well as encouraging and energize staff, professional peers and community audiences.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with the executive committee, faculty, staff, students and both internal and external audiences, as well as interpersonal skills and experience to represent the college and the university with the highest degree of professionalism and integrity.
- Demonstrated strong commitment to and understanding of educational outreach, including skills to develop collaborative working relationships between partners in the University, government and regulatory agencies, industry, the non-profit sector and the community.
Preferred Qualifications:
- An advanced degree in aquaculture or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Interest in collaborating on infrastructure and research opportunities with state and federal agencies as such arise.
