Help the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife fulfill its mission: To protect and enhance Oregon’s fish and wildlife and their habitats for use and enjoyment by present and future generations.
What you will do:
• Lead the Marine Resource Program’s (MRP) commercial groundfish management activities with a focus on federal fisheries. Represent ODFW on the Pacific Fishery Management Council’s (PFMC’s) Groundfish Management Team (GMT).
• Analyze fishery, biological, environmental, and economic data and develop models to predict fishery performance under varying regulatory frameworks. Develop and evaluate proposed groundfish regulations, and advise program/division leadership, ODFW PFMC Council members, PFMC and ODFW advisory bodies, fishing industry representatives, conservation organizations, and the public on the effects of current and proposed management measures.
• Serve as the primary point of contact on commercial groundfish regulations and communicate regularly with the PFMC, NOAA fisheries, federal and state law enforcement agents, ODFW staff, the commercial groundfish fishing industry, and the public in person and via phone, email, written reports, oral/visual presentations, public meetings, and other means.
