Description: If you’re passionate about the intersection of climate resilience, sustainable stewardship, resource preservation, and coastal access and recreation, this is your opportunity to help shape the future of the California coast! California State Parks is launching a new Coastal Resilience Team to help advance sea level rise adaptation and improve coastal resilience across the coastal parks of the California State Park System. This team of specialists will work together to inform coastal adaptation projects; integrate climate principles into Department policies, operations, and programs; and provide technical support to coastal parks.
Each member of this team will bring unique expertise, working together to integrate resilience principles across all aspects of coastal park management.
Responsibilities:
- Support Department-wide implementation of the Department’s Sea Level Rise (SLR) Adaptation Strategy.
- Coordinate design, development, and implementation of a wide range of studies and analyses on planning and recreation issues to meet the long-range strategic needs of the State Park System, considering SLR impacts and management strategies.
- Coordinate and lead public engagement outreach, meetings, workshops, site visits, and data integration.
- Coordinate with potential local and regional recreation providers and land managers in regional planning efforts.
Qualifications:
- Bring strong expertise in the development of vulnerability assessments and other resource management studies.
- Ability to address coastal hazards in planning and adaptation strategies.
- Demonstrate strong teamwork skills and a willingness to collaborate
- Conduct site visits, formulate projects and policy setting related to sea level rise
- Develop and manage datasets, technical tools, and planning resources to support coastal resilience projects.
