Cambodianess —
Cambodia recorded a 10 percent increase in freshwater fish production in 2025 and a rise in Mekong River dolphin numbers, government data shows, signaling progress in fisheries conservation after years of pressure from illegal fishing.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, freshwater fish output grew steadily over the past year, while the population of endangered Mekong River dolphins increased from 104 to 111, based on the fisheries sub-sector’s 2025 review and policy directions for 2026.
