Good news for wildlife lovers. A pod of more than 50 saltwater dolphins was found swimming off the coast of Kep province in Cambodia. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries made the announcement last week.

Theng Borin, department director of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in Kep province said that the administration is paying close attention and is actively protecting the fisheries conservation zone, which occupies an area of more than 10,000 hectares.

“Because we have the fisheries conservation area, there are a lot of fish, which is good for dolphins looking for food. They don’t need to go far. These dolphins always travel around the coastal provinces of Koh Kong and Preah Sihanouk,” he said.

He added that authorities are patrolling the seas regularly and reaching out to instruct residents to be more attentive, since the seawater dolphins are regarded as a rare species, and they can attract tourists, so our province is a haven for nature tourism.
