Fluorescent fish tails are all the fashion for Chinook salmon this season. This batch of salmon parr are freshly marked with a temporary fluorescent dye and ready to be released back in the river. The number of marked fish that we recapture in our rotary screw trap helps us determine how efficient the trap is, which we use to calculate the total number of juvenile salmon migrating out of a river. These temporary tattoos aren’t just stylish, they’re also scientific!
