Agricultural irrigators expressed a mix of emotions in response to the Monday afternoon announcement of a full water allocation for the 2025 season.

A letter from the Bureau of Reclamation announced a full Klamath Project water allocation as defined by the 2024 Biological Opinion, which totals 330,000 acre-feet of water.

“After eight years of dry hydrologic conditions and regulatory challenges, the Klamath Project water users are poised to have a full and successful water year,” said Reclamation Acting Regional Director Adam Nickels. “We are experiencing the wettest hydrologic conditions since 2017, and an extremely positive start to the 2025 irrigation season.”

Klamath Water Users Association (KWUA) President Scott Seus said he has “no doubt” that water supplies are adequate for irrigators across the Klamath Project to receive their full allocations.

But Seus also expressed skepticism and concern for how the 2025 Project Operations are designed.
