In a worrying report, it was revealed that there are only 89 registered Irrawaddy dolphins left in the Mekong range from Kratie to Stung Treng.

Net Pheaktra, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Environment, said in his Facebook page, “There are 89 Cambodian freshwater dolphins living on the Mekong River from Kratie to Stung Treng.”

The post continued that the Zero Trap campaign is not only focused on ground and air traps, but also focuses on traps in the water, such as nets, traps and other fishing gear. The campaign aims to preserve and keep the dolphin population safe.
