Pleasanton Weekly —
Following a series of storms that moved through Northern California in recent weeks, the California Dept. of Water Resources announced it has increased its water allocations to the 29 public water agencies that are served by the State Water Project, which includes the Tri-Valley’s Zone 7 Water Agency.
Zone 7 supplies treated drinking water to retailers serving over a quarter million people in the Tri-Valley, including the cities of Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin and — through special agreement with the Dublin San Ramon Services District — to the Dougherty Valley area.
The State Water Project is a 700-mile network of canals and dams that spans from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta to Southern California. The allocation has increased to 15% of requested supplies, up from the initial allocation forecast of 5% announced in early December.
“While we typically wait to provide an update until January, we felt it important to let our State Water Contractors know of the increase as soon as possible to allow them to better plan their water supply for the year ahead,” said DWR Director Karla Nemeth in a statement last week.
