Oregon State Police is seeking help tracking down two men who they say vandalized and stole from a fish hatchery, and it was all caught on camera.
OSP says the two men were first spotted by trail camera at the Cole River Fish Hatchery in Trail on Aug. 12, 2024, and again on the evening of Aug. 27, 2024.
The men were reportedly wearing motorcycle helmets and were trying to spear salmon in a fish trap.
Trail cameras showed one man operating a red Harley-Davidson or similar motorcycle and the second operating a black sport bike. The men were accompanied by a black German Shepherd.
On July 5 of this year, OSP says two masked people, matching the description and build of the two suspects from last year, were seen on a trail camera near an outflow fish trap. The men were once again with a black German Shepherd.
According to OSP, one of the men carried a large salmon net and the other ripped off an antenna to a nearby trail camera.
The day after, wildlife troopers saw that someone had cut the lock to a fish trap. It’s not known at this time how many salmon were stolen.
