SAN FRANCISCO – A federal court in San Francisco began hearing a case on Jan 26 brought by fishermen against tyre companies over a chemical additive that plaintiffs allege can be deadly to endangered salmon.
Bridgestone, Michelin, Pirelli and 10 other tyre manufacturers in the US are facing off in court against the Institute for Fisheries Resources and the Pacific Coast Federation of Fishermen’s Associations, which are represented by environmental group Earthjustice.
