Thomas Steele

Fisheries Biologist

Thomas Steele is a fisheries biologist and field crew leader with thirteen years of experience in fisheries monitoring, including rotary screw trapping, snorkel surveys, seining, and gillnetting. Thomas is proficient in operating and maintaining field equipment including; motorized and non-motorized boats, rotary screw traps, cameras, and GPS units. He has experience with habitat monitoring and assessment, as well as handling anadromous salmonids such as Chinook Salmon and Steelhead on numerous rivers, including the Sacramento, Feather, and Yuba Rivers in California. When not in the field, Thomas assists with project planning, coordination, and detailed reporting of project updates based on data collected from the field. He is a licensed Fly-Fishing and Waterfowl guide and is trained in both wilderness CPR and Swiftwater rescue.
