The government plans to deploy 5,000 artificial fish sanctuaries within the next five years to restore and increase fisheries resources in Cambodian seas.
The Fisheries Administration of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries cooperating with the Marine Conservation Cambodia Organisation (MCC) is implementing a project to deploy the artificial sanctuary for maritime fauna in Kep province’s Koh Ach Seh Island.
Construction of a series of structures on the sea floor will restore the ecosystem in the area and provide a safe habitat for fish and increase animal diversity.
Khouv Kuong, Deputy Chief of the Fisheries Administration, said that the project has deployed more than 200 artificial fish habitats around the island.
