The Solano County Planning Commission on Thursday unanimously approved a use permit for the development of the 330-acre Cache Slough Mitigation Bank.

There was no public objection during the hearing.

The project would re-establish approximately 300 acres of tidal freshwater wetland and floodplain at the southernmost reach of the Yolo Bypass, northeast of Rio Vista.

A mitigation bank provides the opportunity for developers to buy credits as compensation for impacts made by their projects that are the same as the ecological protections provided by the bank.

The project applicant is Westervelt Ecological Services. It’s representatives said they do not have any specific mitigation projects in the works at this time.
