The body that sets fishing rules for federal waters off Washington, Oregon and California will take final action on two groundfish measures next month, according to a notice NOAA Fisheries published Monday, Aug. 24, in the Federal Register.
The Pacific Fishery Management Council and its advisory bodies meet Sept. 16 through 21 at the Hilton Vancouver Washington in Vancouver, Washington. Advisory panels start work Wednesday, Sept. 16, beginning with the Scientific and Statistical Committee. The Council itself convenes Friday, Sept. 18, at 9 a.m. Pacific Time and runs through Monday, Sept. 21.

Two Final Action Items on the Groundfish Agenda
The meeting notice flags two groundfish items as Final Action, a designation meaning the Council may transmit a proposed fishery management plan, plan amendment, or proposed regulations to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act.
