A new study has found that invasive northern pike in the Deshka River in southcentral Alaska are eating more fish than they did a decade ago, with the sharpest increase appearing in the youngest predators.

That change recasts rising river temperatures as a force that can intensify pressure on salmon even when salmon show up less often in the predator’s stomach.
