Fishery managers developed options for Washington’s summer recreational ocean salmon fisheries at the Pacific Fishery Management Council (PFMC) meetings that concluded today.
“With the range of ocean fishery options set, Washington state fishery managers can start working on interior Puget Sound salmon, Columbia River and coastal fisheries,” said Kelly Cunningham, WDFW Fish Program director. “The forecasted adult returns of Chinook and coho played an important role, along with historic catch information, in developing the ocean salmon fishing season options.”
