Today’s Photo Friday comes via social media: Instagram follower Jesse Armstrong sent us this photo of a mysterious yellow spot found on a rainbow trout he caught in Oregon’s Crooked River in 2014. While we haven’t encountered this particular coloration in the field ourselves, we discovered that salmon can naturally develop these yellow spots as they start to transform into their spawning colors – so the same may be true for trout. Have you ever encountered similar yellow spots? Let us know! And check out Jesse’s beautiful gallery on Instagram (and ours too, while you’re at it)!
