The Bureau of Land Management has begun watershed restoration and infrastructure improvements within the Sacramento River Bend Area of critical environmental concern in Tehama County, near Bend.

The Paynes Creek Crossing parking area access will be limited for public safety from Monday to early November for the improvements, according to the BLM.

Trails originating at the parking lot will not be affected. They will remain open and accessible by alternative routes.

BLM Redding Field Office Manager Jennifer Mata said visitor and staff safety is always BLM’s number one priority.

“Limiting public access to the parking area would minimize the chances of the public encountering any of this equipment or interfering with project activities,” she added.
