Some 25 people attended the Entiat Watershed Planning Unit meeting in Entiat hosted by Cascadia Conservation District. Those present included representatives from the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife, Yakama Nation Fisheries, Trout Unlimited, the Upper Columbia Salmon Recovery Board, Chelan County and several landowners..

The Wednesday meeting, facilitated by Mark Ingman of Cascadia, began with a presentation by Isabel Woolner and Joe Hill of Cascadia on Entiat forest health opportunities. They discussed fuel reduction for wildfire protection for landowners, as well as riparian enhancement to aid fish on the Entiat River.

Hill mentioned several programs available to assist landowners, including some managed by Cascadia itself.

One of these is a cost share program for tree removal on residential properties in which landowners could be paid for part of the work. This is an open enrollment process which would require a cultural review of the project, as well, Hill said.
