The high flows coming out of New Melones reservoir in recent weeks have transformed the Stanislaus River in ways not seen since the start of the drought. The swollen river has created a number of unusual riverscapes, from flooded fields to soggy golf courses to this log jam of woody debris. If your Memorial Day weekend plans take you near the river this wekeend, be mindful of swift currents and submerged objects – have a safe holiday!
