FISHBIO technician Mike Justice measures a Chinook salmon at the Stanislaus weir Oct 11 2018
We don’t often install a fish trap on the Stanislaus weir, but when we do it’s a great chance to get a close-up look at some migrating salmon and take a few extra measurements to boot. This photo recently won our monthly staff photo contest for its unique perspective. You can catch a glimpse of some spawning salmon yourself at the Stanislaus River Salmon Festival on Saturday, November 10, at Knights Ferry Recreation Area. As of November 6, 2018, the Stanislaus fall-run migration stood at 3,596 fish – come check them out!
