Deer crossing
It’s not uncommon to see deer in the field, but spotting eight at once is a bit of a treat.  Our crew recently witnessed this herd of mule deer crossing the Tuolumne River. Stream crossings are a fact of life for many animals on the move, but the journey can also be treacherous. This was brought to mind by the deer carcass that we also recently spotted on the Tuolumne. Although we can’t say for sure how the deer died, it’s still a reminder that life around water is not without risk.
