Triploid trout, or trout that have three sets of chromosomes, are popular at fish farms where managers want fish to grow large, not reproduce. An avid angler recently set a record for the largest genetically engineered trout with this 48 pound, 42 inch long specimen taken from a Saskatchewan lake.
